off elegance explores the seasonal transformation of public swimming pools and the systems that keep them functioning. The work considers the swimming pool as a substantial architectural intervention into its environment: a constructed space that organizes water, bodies, movement, and leisure. At the same time, it traces the cyclical life of the pool itself. Filling and emptying, activity and inactivity, maintenance and decay, use and non-use form a recurring rhythm. Through interventions in the technological infrastructure of a public outdoor pool, off elegance makes these cycles visible and examines what happens when an architecture designed for a specific function temporarily loses its use.
